In early Christian times the faithful who went to Jerusalem followed the route of Jesus’ last journey on the Via Crucis or the Way of the Cross, also called today the Stations of the Cross. The devotion is a way to recount the suffering and death of the Lord on Good Friday, meditating on various stages of Jesus being condemned and crucified out of love for the human race. Today in our own Church through our beautifully restored Stations we can remind ourselves of Christ’s journey on Good Friday.
